What changes with three

Three players add somebody else's interests to a two-player read. In Sevens you can see who is sitting on a card; in President the finishing order splits three ways, so there is a second place worth fighting for even in a hand you cannot win.

Mahjong switches to its three-handed form: the two through eight of characters come out of the wall, pon is available and chi is not. Hands come together differently from the four-handed game, so watch one round through before you commit to a long session with money on the line.

When only two of you turn up

A three-player game still starts if you drop a CPU into the spare chair. The host picks how strong it plays, and when a real third person arrives they take the seat from the next round.

If you would rather play something built for two while you wait, move over to the two-player shelf. A ten-minute game finishes before your third player is likely to arrive, and you can hand them the link the moment they do. Nothing is lost by starting early: parties cost nothing to create and you can open another one straight afterwards.

FAQ

How many three-player games are there?

There are 7 right now, covering card games, board games and mahjong.

What if only two of us are here?

Add one CPU and start. Whoever turns up later can take the seat from the next round.

Can we play three-handed mahjong?

Yes. It is the standard three-player game: the two through eight of characters are removed, pon works, chi does not.

Is it free?

Every game on this shelf is free, for the host and for everyone joining.
