Rule highlights
Setup, play, winning, and house rules
Setup
- One to six players. Playing alone, you roll ten times for a personal-best challenge; from two players you can add computer players.
- The dice faces read 1=H, 2=E, 3=A, 4=R, 5=T, 6=S — the traditional way to play this game with ordinary dice.
- The default scoring table pays H=0, HE=5, HEA=10, HEAR=15, HEART=20, HEARTS=25. Table options let H also score (HEARTS 30) or raise HEARTS to 35.
- The default target is 100 (150 and 50 are also available).
How to play
- On your turn, press Roll to roll all six dice at once.
- Count how far an unbroken streak runs from H through E, A, R, T, S. Repeats of the same letter only count once (for example H, H, E, T, S, S scores for "HE": 5).
- No H at all scores zero. Whatever the streak is worth is added straight to your total, and the turn passes to the next player.
- Rolling three or more H wipes that turn's score and resets your total to zero. Table options can double your total when four or more H appear, or reset it to zero on four or more S.
Winning
- Once a player's total reaches the target, play continues to the last player of that round, so everyone has the same number of turns (the first player does not get an unfair edge).
- The highest total when the game ends wins. Equal scores share the place, and if the leaders tie it is a draw. A player may also resign.
- When you play again, the next player goes first.
- Playing alone, there is no opponent, so you roll ten times and aim to beat your personal best.

| Scoring tableScoring tableThe six dice show the letters H, E, A, R, T and S, and you score by how many letters in a row you roll starting from H (HEA is three). No H scores nothing. In Standard, H alone is worth 0; the other two tables pay 5 for H alone and more for HEARTS, so scores climb faster. | Points for each streak length. Standard pays 0 for H alone and 25 for HEARTS. The H also scores table pays 5 for H alone and 5 more for each letter, up to 30 for HEARTS; Higher is the same but pays 35 for HEARTS. | Standard (HEARTS 25) | Can be changed |

Is this the same as the card game Hearts?
No. Hearts Dice is played with six-sided letter dice and shares nothing with the card game beyond a similar name.
Where do the dice come from?
This site's shared dice part, with letters drawn on the faces instead of pips. They roll the same as every other dice game here.

Can I play on a phone?
Yes. No app is needed — just open it in a browser. You can join the same party as people on a PC or tablet.
Can two people play?
Yes. This game supports 2 or more players.
Can we play without being online at the same time?
Yes. Choose “Turn-based (told each turn)” and you can make one move whenever you like. We tell you when it is your turn. A table ends automatically, with no winner or loser, after 45 days without a move.
