Two-handed card games want a race, not a chase

With only two players, games about pushing points onto somebody else get repetitive — there is only one place for the points to go. Games where you race to empty your hand hold up better, because your opponent's remaining count is visible and keeps the read alive to the last card.

You can both see how many cards the other is holding, but never which ones. What they have is something you work out from what they have already played, and with a single opponent that arithmetic is tractable — by the last few cards you can often name the hand outright. Shuffling, dealing and counting all happen on screen, so the only thing either of you has to think about is which card to put down next.

When a third person turns up

Once there are three of you, move to the card games for three. Several of the games you were just playing two-handed seat a third player without changing anything else.

This shelf fills itself in as games are added. Any new card game that seats two appears here by itself, without anyone having to write the list out again.

FAQ

Can I play with someone far away?

Yes. Send an invite link, and the other person can join just by opening it in a browser.

Is it free to play?

Every game on this shelf is free — for the person who creates the party and for everyone who joins.
