Mahjong fu

Fu measures how awkward a hand was to build. You start at 20, add for your sets, your pair, your wait and the way you won, then round up to the next 10.

Two exceptions

The order to count

  1. Start at 20.
  2. Add 10 for a closed hand won on a discard, or 2 for a self-draw.
  3. Add for each triplet and kan from the table above. Runs earn nothing.
  4. Add 2 if your pair is a dragon, the round wind or your seat wind (4 if it is both winds).
  5. Add 2 for a closed, edge or single wait. Two-sided and dual-pair waits earn nothing.
  6. Round the total up to the next 10. If you called and are still at 20, make it 30.
