Flush
Five cards of the same suit, not necessarily in sequence.
Rank 5 of 10 poker hands.
How it’s made
- Any five cards sharing one suit; if they also form a sequence, it upgrades to a straight flush instead.
Example hand
2♥ 5♥ 9♥ J♥ K♥
Odds
- 0.1965%(1 in 509)
- 5,108 out of 2,598,960 possible 5-card hands
Breaking ties between the same hand
- Compare the highest card of each flush, then the next-highest, and so on down all five cards.
Common mistakes
- A flush needs all five cards in the same suit — having many cards of the same color is not enough.
