How your rating moves and how rank (dan) is decided.
Do I need to register for ranked play?
Yes. Registration is free, and playing is free.
How does my rating change?
It moves when you play someone with a close rating. Beating a stronger opponent gains you more; losing to a weaker opponent costs you more.
How is rank (dan) decided?
It is based on your rating range. You are promoted after exceeding the upper bound of your current rank in 3 games in a row. These numbers may be adjusted as we go.
How long is a season?
3 months. Rank is finalized at the end, and part of your rating carries over.
What happens on a draw?
For games that allow a draw, ratings do not change.
