Combinations decided when the cards are dealt
Teshi and Kuttsuki are decided the moment the first eight cards are dealt, ending the round right there.

What is the highest-scoring combination?
Five Brights (Gokou), worth 10 points. But Five/Four/Rainy Four/Three Brights are the same group, so only the highest one you complete counts.
What happens if two Bright combinations are complete at once?
Only the highest-scoring one in that group counts; the lower one does not add extra points.
How many cards do Animal, Ribbon and Chaff need?
Animal (Tane) and Ribbon (Tan) need 5 cards, Chaff (Kasu) needs 10. Each extra card beyond that adds one more point.
