Rule highlights
Setup, play, winning, and house rules
Setup
- For 2 players. Playing alone, you face the computer.
- The game picks four of the six colours — red, blue, yellow, green, white and pink — and hides them in a row. That is the answer. By default no colour repeats (you can allow repeats in the settings).
How to play
- Players take turns. Place four colours with the colour buttons and press OK. Without repeats, a guess cannot use the same colour twice either.
- Each guess shows how many pegs are the right colour in the right place (hits, solid red dots ●) and the right colour in the wrong place (blows, hollow rings ○), next to the guess and as numbers such as "H2 B1".
- Both players share one board. Your opponent's guesses and results are clues for you too.
Winning
- The first to score four hits — every colour in the right place — wins.
- By default, take turns with no guess limit until solved. With the 8 guesses setting, eight guesses between you both (four each) without solving it end in a draw.

FAQ
How many can play?
2 players. On your own, you can play against the computer.
Is this the number version?
The idea of narrowing things down with hits and blows is the same, but here you use six coloured pegs instead of digits. For a number version for 2 to 5 players, try Master Number.
Is it free?
Yes. It is free and runs in your browser with no sign-up.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. No app is needed — just open it in a browser. You can join the same party as people on a PC or tablet.
Can two people play?
Yes. This game supports 2 or more players.
Can we play without being online at the same time?
Yes. Choose “Turn-based (told each turn)” and you can make one move whenever you like. We tell you when it is your turn. A table ends automatically, with no winner or loser, after 45 days without a move.
